Breathe Your Way Through Anxiety

March 14, 2022

That anxiety is no joke. You have to breathe your way through anxiety. I notice because I’ve had like a mini panic attack, like two or three times before. One time it was big. Well, listen, it goes way back, but one time I found myself hiding and crouched behind the door, and I had to be really, really quiet, and so I started to hyperventilate.

And then I just remembered that I know how to control my breath, and so I just started breathing slower, and probably saved my life, cause if I didn’t, I would have passed out. That is what kicked in for the survival. Not the, oh, I’m in a bad situation and I’m having an anxiety attack, and then bringing on everything that our society says comes with that. I controlled it myself.

And so when you have anxiety, I know people can go to the doctor. You can go see a therapist. It stems from something. It’s triggered by something. But when you take your deep breaths, don’t do it like a fish. You have to breathe with a relaxed mouth, and you just breathe slowly.

And when you’re having anxiety, there is a part of the body that will come online the most, and everybody’s different. Some people it might be the lower stomach. You just have to be aware and notice what came online for you.

That’s if you have deep, deep anxiety attacks and you can’t control it. But if it’s the smaller ones, the lighter ones, these panic attacks and stuff like that, you just need to breathe in through your nose and softly breathe out of your mouth, every time. Breathe your way through it, and the anxiety will dissipate. Okay? You just allow it to dissipate from your body, and that is how you deal with anxiety.

And when you do that enough, then your anxiety will go away. And then you can go back, now with a clear head, without the fear of triggering it, and think about the rest of the situation when the anxiety attacks happen. Not so that you don’t repeat it again, but just so you have an understanding, and maybe you can help somebody else. Cause that’s what happened to me. And that’s what I’m telling you. That’s what worked for me.
