Nothing Makes Up for Sleep
Here’s another thing that’s oh so cute but not true: if you have mirrors over your bed or facing you as you sleep, and you’re a spiritual girly lacking sleep, just lock them or cover them up at night and you’ll be fine.
So cute, but not true. It’s not true because nothing makes up for sleep. No makeup, no mirror covering, none of that makes up for sleep.
There’s levels. You have get off of work tired, fall out sleep, where the body forces you to go to sleep, as I talk to you with these dark circles. You also have preparation sleep, and there’s levels to the preparation sleep, where they’re shutting down media. Maybe that glass of water 30 to 45 minutes before bed. There is also quiet time. There’s reading.
There’s different levels of toning down and coming down for sleep that can be opened up into an entire practice. Covering the mirrors and doing all of that cannot replace cherishing sleep as some sort of a ritual or practice. That is the best sleep.
Taking the time to go to sleep and acknowledging it as some sort of a nourishing moment every single day that you get to have. Not have to do. You get to go to sleep. It is a good thing.
